Mom Knew

My dear sweet friends of the Soup Thought I'd let you in on a little secret It's all about life and love and happy stuff But mostly it's about love You know... that stuff you've craved Ever since you discovered for the very first time Mary was quite different She had stuff you didn't have And you had stuff she didn't have Suddenly she wasn't one of the guys anymore She was kinda like your sister but different Very very different Now every time you looked at her You still wanted to wrestle BUT Somehow it felt quite different Hard to explain but it was now okay If she ended up on top! In fact, let's be honest here, you let her 'win' Actually, you thought to yourself YEE HAW! I lost BUT I won! Now when it was time to go in for dinner You didn't feel like eating, Mom wondered why You wanted to go to bed early, Mom wondered why You brushed your teeth without urging Mom wondered why Mom didn't really wonder why Mom knew! © Jack Ellison 2014

My kids thought us older folks were dumb as a box of rocks. But we knew what they were up too. Couldn't slip much past us. We weren't dumb after all! They learned. Now it's Dragon's turn. Grandpa Troll helps... He tells Dragon "Momma knows best!" And when I offer advice, Grandpa Troll tels him to 'take it'. I might get dissmissed, but Grandpa Troll "NEVER"!... LOL... Dragon still finds plenty of trouble... I swear... Sometimes HE IS as dumb as a box of rocks!... But still loveable!

Ahh, delightful writing!!!!This was damn awesome! This almost reminded of the show The Wonder Years. Oh, Winnie Cooper...one of my 1st celebrity crushes. Cheers to you sir! Oh, be sure to Soup Mail me back about that "thing" for that "thing". ;-)

Yes I think we have all been there, where Mom knew exactly what was going on...that puppy love, that love at which you didn't even know it was love! I remember that, back in elementary school and into middle school, wow those were long ago days! But I remember them as if it was yesterday! I really enjoyed reading this delightful poem here this morning my friend! What a fabulous piece, such a grand poem, Great Work!!

I remember my first crush... her name was Janice Valentine! First grade! LOL Had many crushes after that but oh that Janice!!!
