Modern Day Apocalypse

Here we all are In this modern day apocalypse. Social distancing, stay at home.... Virtual friends, virtual workouts, Virtual jobs, virtual schools. What would we do without the internet? Borders are closed, travel bans in effect. Concerts are cancelled, sports events too. Bars are closed, large gatherings taboo. And restaurant seating doesn’t exist. Food can be ordered for delivery only. What will we do, where will we go? Salons and day spas are all closed! No nails, no lashes, no haircuts or colours. What will the pampered woman do? Au naturel for all of us.... Oh my, what a dilemma! Different women when we come out of hiding! So I escaped to my cottage by the sea. Filled 14 bags with yard debris! Raked up fallen branches and dried up leaves. Great to be outside with rolled up sleeves! Hiked the ocean trails with my furry friend. Excited to see what’s around the next bend. Will lose my fake lashes and grow out my hair, Will fit right in with the residents here and there! Social distancing? Can see my neighbours beyond the trees. Entertainment? Right in my own back yard.... Seals at sea, deer upon the hillside, eagles in the sky. Nothing but paradise, away from it all! But what I miss most is physical touch! I can briefly forget this world crisis we’re in, Overlooking the harbor with it’s tranquility, Sailboats peacefully gliding by. But physical touch is what I need, Not elbow to elbow or heel to heel! Rather an affectionate bear hug, Strong arms wrapped around me, Warm cheek to warm cheek! Let’s hope and pray it’s over soon....
