Missing You Elvis, Sun Records

16th of August 2022 45 years ago Elvis Presley Died. I’ll always think of you now I’m wild in the country, you know I’m just a poor boy in Memphis Tennessee, lonely without my lover doll, trying to patch it up,this life! Paralyzed I am, yet please tell me why, when one night with you in the ghetto, when my blue moon turns to gold again leaves me all shook up. I know! It’s the wonder of you not only your blue suede shoes but your burning love, that gives me no time to reconsider baby. Hope! You’ll always wear my ring, I’m sure you know I’m playing for keeps, so, baby let’s play house no one sided love affair here, because you’re young and beautiful and that’s alright when the next step is love, especially without suspicious minds. No Heartbreak Hotel, for us just a promise of Love me tender, Whilst loving you. SUN RECORDS still missing you so much joy in the fifties how can one forget a teenager and Memphis good old Sam, there for them all. © Harry J Horsman 2022 Revamp and plus on my 'Missing You' Poem posted here 12 years ago. Top notch tribute to Elvis. Most creative to weave song titles into your poignant piece on a great talent gone too soon. Best wishes, Brian

Skillfully written, Harry. The titles bolded helped me to remember so many song I grew up with on my little record player. Thanks for the memories and the tribute to Elvis. I was working in Memphis when Elvis died, just blocks from my office. It took hours to get home, the streets were jammed. Thanks for the update and repost. Bill

When Elvis aired on TV on The Ed Sullivan Show, my daddy got up and turned the TV off. He said I can't believe they would put that on TV where children might see it. LOL..I was watching and maybe I was 9 or 10. Daddy switched that TV off right away. I remember a few of those lines above. Elvis' music teacher (so I read) told him that he needed to pursue a different line of work because his music wasn't that good. I enjoyed reading this one. Brought back old memories. Sara

Top of the day to you hh, Just look at all those beautiful songs and music. Elvis was one of a kind. The day he died I was buying school clothes with my mom we are in the car heading to the mall and the news came over the radio. He and his music lives one. You did a wonderful job putting this together. May this day find you well. Blessings always.

Wow, somehow I feel that Elvis is looking down and smiling with favor on your poem, harry. Those songs brought back many rich memories for me. And, yes, I remember quite well the day Elvis died and how shocked we all were.
