Miss You Daughters Miss You

- I cannot say why you are angry but I can say it should be equal I cannot say why you reject your own creator so easily but you do I cannot say why you do not acknowledge our life together but it's that way I cannot say why you look so sharply from the side of your eye but it burns I wonder what causes you to not to phone to say hello but I never hear from you. I wonder what you say about me at bedtime or do you sense me I wonder what you both talk of at the sink when you both brush your teeth. Is it me I wonder what you think when you stare out the high window at school. Maybe Dad I cry when I think of the times I wheeled you up the high street to show you off I cry when I think of your smile when you saw your new yellow tractor I cry when I think of the times you hugged me at the airport I cry when I think how you cleverly helped fix a rubber tyre of the wheel barrow I feel joy when I remember the day you appeared in blue and red colours Niamh I feel joy when I remember you survived choking on that hard boiled sweet I feel joy when I remember the day you helped with the coving Katy I feel joy when I remember you say " Is this called being on a roll Daddy" I delighted in my daughter saying I'll get money for you Daddy, in the pound shop I delighted in the day we danced round the ironing board to the jumping trousers I delighted in the day we searched for fossils on the beach and played scoccer I delighted in the day we all caught that great big fish together You may struggle a long time to finds these moments again but for now be patient with yourselves till you are ready. Until you understand and until you eventually listen to your heart and release some of those memories again I will wait a life time if I have to but don't leave it too late girls. And Remember the Giant yellow moon we saw together. Well, my love is always there too. Like the moon Miss you daughters, Miss you.

Beautifully written. Reminds me of my poem "The Teen". We parents have a lot in common. It's good to know we're not alone in our struggles with our children.
