Mirage
Her heart has become a desert
The scorching sun burns on
All the greens have deserted
Only sand; dry and barren remains
She reaches out …but you are gone.
The air is pregnant
It’s all warm and hot
She cries out but the tears won’t come
Her eyes are dry
She blinks once… she sees you
She reaches out …but you are gone.
She shuts her eyes and then you are there
The eyes of her mind dance,
Full of joy at the sight of you,
You bask in her love
She reaches out…but you are gone
Her heart calls out but you are gone
You seem near yet sooo distant
All around her the walls are crumbling
Still hope burns on
A little flame in the crevices of her heart even when
She reaches out …but you are gone.
Her throat is patched up
Her heart is bleeding red
The wind is howling and mocking
She can hear the caress of your voice
Its herculean the effort but…
She still reaches out, she sees you near
Peace. so elusive but she holds on
One day she’ll reach out and you
You’ll be near.
