Million Miles
You were a million miles away
Needed you here and you came
I will never forget that
No, never forget that.
You spoke of laughing your life away
Didn’t care if ‘she’ could cook or bake
To my best friend
In our Westside apartment
In the dining room
And I couldn’t swallow my food
In front of you
Because right then
I knew
I loved you…
Darling your blue eyes
Drive me wild
We sat on the couch
And for the first time
I subtly reached for you
Just couldn’t not touch you.
Thought you should know
I trust you
Feel safe with you
Whatever you want to know you can
Whatever you want to take, have
Darling your blue eyes
Drive me wild
Someday
You won’t be a million miles away
And you held me in the kitchen
for a split second...
And I picked up your coat
Held it for you
And I just couldn’t not hold
your hand
I knew you were different
Right then
I knew I loved you
Thank God I figured it out
Before you left
To go a million miles away
The night
In your parents house
Upstairs
You told me
I said are you sure?
You never faltered
Yes.
I wasn’t quite there yet
Wasn’t ready to tell yet
But then I did
because
You are
You are
You are
So safe.
Even at a million miles away
