Mile After Mile Emotion

Dedicated to Daddy, Mom, Bro and Pooh
We tried no sad good-bye ... Despite crowds in all the aisles, all I can see is the feel in me: Mile after mile, cloud after cloud, my heart smiles all most out loud. Wind slicing air, love slicing chest, such tender care when I love best. I should rest this feeling quest. Leaving them behind is something I mind. Love of family is separate from time, what they give me no clock can chime. The plane soaring, the jet roaring. Watching a wing play, I reserve what’s hurting for some future day. ... Great poem. Reminded me of 1977 , when my girlfriend flew to Cali to live. I was teary eyed as I left the airport.. Bitter sweet memories of that sad day. She had begged me to move with her but my heart stays in the South. You painted it so well. A7

Robert - I am delighted you shared your memory / response with me. For me, it was leaving my parents and sister in Germany to return to the US. Military Father, you see. Thank you so much for reading and, again, sharing ... CayCay (seems you ended up with the perfect partner after all is said)

Hey CayCay, still visiting with your lovely poems. This is filled with the sadness of goodbye. I can personally relate to it - I felt the same way when I wrote "How Do You Say Goodbye". It can be heartbreaking. Wonderfully expressive and well written. Be Blessed, Neva

See your page for my reaction to "How Do You Say Goodbye." I guess what we both tried to express IS felt by most. Must be a lot of good bye poems that AREN'T romantic in nature ... CayCay

wow, quite a moving poem, and not just because you are on a plane! I sure enjoyed seeing two of your poems tonight thanks for reading mine. I'd see even more if I were not in a rush. Oh and I wanted to tell you, I hope you one day get to try a Maid Rite. I sure do miss them!

Touching. Leaving loved ones behind and hurting from loved is not an easy space to fill.
