Midnight Stroll
Pleasurably unhurried
this aimless walk
around midnight at a
dark-green landscape.
Dreamily undulating there,
the late summer grass.
The winds carry away
from a far-off bough
the chirping of what may
be the first waking bird
of nearing dawn, or
the last drowsy one
of the fading night.
