There’s value bean counters can’t grant Supplant not old models they chant! They rant that life forms’ Cells must fit spreadsheet norms As accountants’ brains are quite scant

I agree, Duke. Money can never buy what really counts in life. Without a deeper study of life - spreadsheets are sure fall short of what matters. SuZ

I agree again, Duke: They sure wrote the rules in their own favor. Convenience seems to take precedence over everything now. SuZ

Hi suzanne, thanks for looking at this. You are absolutely right, we can't get happiness with $$. What's even worse is that the rules of accounting allow companies to ignore certain expenses to the environment or dumping on living things as if they don't count for anything. These are usually costs that get passed on to the rest of us or to those unfortunate enough to be stuck with them...one example is Microplastics. Who pays for the cost of that contamination? The people who make the plastic are getting rich and get away with it. I wrote this a while back and didn't make it very clear.

Thanks Silent One! This is the root cause of many evils in our society--that we make decisions without regard to the actual societal costs and environmental costs. I heard a news story that some rules may change and a value might get placed on a variety of different ecosystems and that will enter in decisions made. However, we'll see if that every happens.

Yes, this is something I am passionate about. There are values in life and in the universe that don't fit our models. Although some of us as individuals see this, our society and culture does not routinely value what is not described with simplicity. That is why, for example, you and your poetry are so special.
