Merry Christmas

She stood at her window, looking out on the world, alone this Christmas, this frightened young girl. The night had come, without making a sound, as the snow began falling, lightly powdering the ground. Only eighteen, when she said I Do, her childhood sweetheart, and their love so true. Ready to see, this world as one, planning their first Christmas, so much left undone. Then one day, that dreaded letter arrived, orders to leave, and she held it and cried. When he came home, he held her close, trying to comfort her, reminding her, why he had to go. He told her softly, I love you so, but I am a soldier, this is what I chose. Decorate our tree, in red, white, and blue, and this time next year, I'll be back home with you. Merry Christmas to our Military, their families, and friends. We love you all, and our prayers we send......

Wonderful poem Christy & sorry to have made you sad. Read one of my Xmas ones & you'll laugh. God does help me with Dad and I always forgive him & he's still here! And he keeps making messes as we all do. That's between him & higher power. I love him. Light & Love Debbie Guzzi

This is such a beautiful write and a wonderful tribute to our Military. Thanks for the support and we too, thank your nephew for his dedication to our country. I will let you know if we need more help. We are at the point where we may need to start a congressional investigation (if we can trust them) because no one knows where our case is. Thanks again and Happy holidays. Love Robin

Yes...we must not forget those who make such sacrifices, and spend their holidays so far from home and family. A lovely reminder in your poem, Danielle. Merry Christmas to you as well. Love, Carrie
