Mere Magic
standing on a dock in Maine
Watching a storm come toward us
Sipping and enjoying the moment
Lightning flashed and stabbed to earth
A breath or two then thunder rolled
I laughed and raised my hand on high
Then quickly shot a pointing finger
Lightning stabbed on cue
Exactly where I’d shot it
Wes laughed and took his turn
missing by a mile and several tries
I did it again
And again
The girls stopped laughing
Wesley tried until the rain came
Then ran to join us on the porch
How did you do it ?asked Mona
Barb and Wes knew better
