Mercy

I once stood above the rest, Passed with ease at every test. Time itself was on my side, The passages were broad and wide. Now the hourglass is my enemy, Of the strength I had there isn't any. The slightest breeze is stronger, In the darkeness of my weakness I wander. Lurking in the shadows are my opposers, Funny, I once called them friends, my endorsers. Now I am the hunted, I am the prey, Having no sunshine, not a single ray. Now life itself persues me, In no longer holds me in its arms embracingly. I once stood above the rest, Now all I can hope for is mercy at best.
