“January 31st is National Hot Chocolate Day—a day that celebrates the timeless cold-weather beverage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hot milk, cocoa, sugar - sometimes the simplest of things are the best. Standing over the pan, I watch the small curls of steam rise into the wintry air before pouring myself a cup. I take a tiny sip; the hot chocolate is as rich as it is dark and flows as slowly as cream as I swirl the mug, letting my mind wander. Memories steep in.
In this mug, memories steep,
of childhood laughter, secrets to keep,
hot chocolate whispers, soft and deep,
in its warmth, past memories creep.
By the fire, stories unfold,
with each sip, memories retold,
the sweet aroma, bold and old,
in this cup, a lifetime’s gold.
Years may pass, yet here remains,
in this chocolate, life’s sweet refrains,
a mug of memories, love sustains,
in every drop, the past it contains.
