Meeting Expectations Contest
My life to this point has been pretty hard.
Growing up, being called a tub of lard.
Always hanging out with the popular group.
But always being the one left out of the loop.
In high school I was one of the jocks.
The one everyone laughs at and mocks.
These people made me not want to face tomorrow.
So I learned to deal with it, by drowning my sorrow.
Eventually this lifestyle got me jailed.
Then I saw in life I had failed.
I vowed to change my life after that day.
They all looked at me and thought, can't happen, no way.
I got into school and made really good grades.
They said it didn't matter if it took me decades.
So I wanted to show them not everything seems as it appears.
Soon enough I was graduating college, and in just three years.
Your expectations were so ungodly high for me,
that you would never approve of anything I could be.
I pushed myself so hard, that I received my PhD.
Now don't care about your expectations or what you think of me.
