Meaning of Life

I have been thinking about the meaning of life There was life here long before I came to be And there will be life continuing long after me. It seems I have a rather small window of impact Not much point in begrudging what I lacked … One thing’s certain…that is an undeniable fact! My time here on earth has been rather ethereal When I consider time in its grander dimension I mustn’t think when I’m gone, all is in suspension. No, life will move steadily along with a divine plan I have been but a very small piece of eternal man, Here for a brief period of time, doing the best I can. Many came before and paved for me the way, Showing me the best paths to choose for success I’ve stumbled, fallen, and sometimes made a mess. And, as advised, I picked myself up and carried on I think friends will remember that when I’m gone, But, frankly, I’ll be most happy to pass on the baton.

I always say when teachers come in here sick to spread it around - they could replace all of us in a week. It might not be us, but it would be a replacement. "And there will be life continuing long after me." - for sure!

Yep, so true. I think we sometimes lose sight of this, however, and think we are the be-all and end-all, but we simply aren't!

It would be nice if everyone could say they left life on this planet better than they found it, but I find that increasingly difficult to discover . . . . .Enjoyed, Milton!

You know, Rico, that's more and more difficult to do, especially when life is more of a struggle than it used to be, or at least I think so. Simpler times meant less stress, don't you think?

I really appreciate how you distinctly express all these passionate lines Milt. Maturity perceives the passageway to wisdom, If I may say...ab

I enjoyed the fact your poem conveyed your emotions, Milton. You have written a beautiful poem. Ironically, the older we become, the more we find ourselves making this point.

Oh, that is definitely true, Lasaad. The years always give us a different perspective!

The older we get, the more we ask this question. I liked the way your rhyme expressed your feelings on this. Thank you, Milt.
