Me and My Shadow

I walk you walk Forever by my side I walk in the dark 'Cos my need is to hide I want to be just me, I don't need you to talk. I want to be able to say Please set me free. Just walk. Why do you follow me Why can't I be me, alone Why do you listen to my whispers When I speak on the telephone I sit in my chair in the firelight Shadows float, hover all around I tell myself it's imagination That my feet are firmly on the ground I want to stamp on you, so you will leave my trembling body and let me go I don't need a shadow,I can walk alone Just go, do not look back. Just go. Penned 4 July 2015

This is deeply dark, Seren. Wonderful write. Viv x Ps- as children, we used to play at stamping on our shadows, too. If this is for the contest, it will do well, methinks.

Methinks there abides a bit of an unsavory metaphor herein. Well done and good luck in the contest
