Masks
We wear masks most every day.
They hide the lies of what we say:
Everything's just fine.
Afraid to let our feelings show,
we hide our pain from those we know.
No crossing that line.
People can be judging, cruel,
afraid that we'll be made a fool,
we keep our masks in place.
Perhaps one day we'll be set free,
remove our masks and just be,
ourselves with no disgrace.
