Mars

All September I had Mars in my window The reddish planet, god of war. It says that this year After some hundred years Its orbit the closest is to Earth. That is something valuable to astronomers But not for me Looking with my weary eyes The same glimmering As when I was a kid And fretting with my friends I told myself that stars were my true friends I called them by name chatting with them through the nights Telling them my childhood secrets. Now that I’m getting older Bored sometime with all that is around me I’m turning again to the stars My dear old friends Why does something so far away Comfort us more than the things near us The ones we care so much about? --------

BETIM, Congratulations, . I hope you don't mind your placement in my contest. Out of past experience, I know many don't like when I don't have a first or second placement. However, this is my judgment, and it only feels right, to place each poem, in the order I would have, as if there had been a first or second placement. Believe me, I'm not taking from you or your winning poem. Hugs, and enjoy my blog, "Conundrum" if you'd like. Have yourself a sweet day. ...always Linda
