Marriage

So many hopes and dreams, promises, “I do’s”, kisses celebrating love. Working hard to build a home, a life, a future, keeping love alive. How could we go wrong? The years, the tears, the regrets, love wasn’t enough.

Gary, I was married once, it was not hopes and dreams. it was a nightmare. I was abused over nothing. Glad I got out. Sorry, to hear of the regrets. SKAT

Too often, a perfunctory choice is made for a marriage partner. That's why the divorce rate is so high, and lawyers get so rich. Good write that sadly describes the outcomes of so many failed marriages.

Gary, good contrast between the stages of marriage, good emotion and use of form. Congratulations on your win. Thanks much for entering my contest.

This is actually a linked senryu, as each stanza is a senryu. I would have listed it as a renku, but I was the only poet and renku isn't listed in the drop down menu, oddly enough. Anyway, I hope you like the poem, even if it is a little sad.
