Maria's Lullaby
Another sleepless midnight
melody,
Restless voices, tainted
soliloquy.
Unrequited thoughts of what
may be,
Silent din, chaotic reprise.
Shadows lurk in darkness and
light,
Turning daylight into night.
Relentless sirens of myth and
lore,
Somehow larger than life.
Bitter wings of black and lead,
Face down in a sea of red.
Waves of heartache, maybe
sorrow,
No match for sanguine release.
Same day, different rabbit hole,
Twisted, strangling the very
soul.
Torn between the blackest
black,
Eternal, abyss evermore.
Grasping to heal scars of yore,
Wounds that touch the very
core.
Reopened for sport, lack of
desire,
To feel beyond the burn.
Orgasmic, sense of joyous
remorse,
Self medicating away from the
source.
Grasping for truth or sense,
Of why were here at all.
A precise execution of
innocence,
Blinding, numbing at least one
sense.
Warmth in droves of scarlet
and blue,
Wash the frigid skin.
Whispered screams, tortured
muse,
Choices, without the option to
choose.
Leading, following, succumbing
within,
The war wages on inside.
Seasons change in seconds
passed,
Everything slow happens so
fast.
Scorned in the eyes of the
faceless jury,
Who's condemned without the
truth.
Sweet dreams of once a
memory,
Nightmares of what could never
be.
Endless opportunities,
Story without an end.
In a glimpse of clarity,
Fogged by the stability,
Tears are soothed by empathy.
Bipolar lullaby.
