Mandela Sleeps

Mandela Sleeps. I couldn't think of what to say. I dreamt of Mandela in Eternity, A vision of a visionary, His legacy for posterity, His goals complete, His dreams achieved, His blessed soul sleeps, Forever at peace. I couldn't think of what to say, Mandela sleeps in Eternity, Freedom his gift for posterity. Mandela's best is yet to be- I have visions of a visionary... I couldn't think of what to say, Only.. "Thank you" from humanity. (Dated 2014).

Hi Julie, now that the workshop (not contest, NO WINNING) has locked, I'm hoping more workshop participants can stop by and offer suggestions/advice. Please check out my blog or visit the contests page to click on links and offer advice to other poets. What lines do you feel need improving?

It must be bliss to sleep this sleep "in eternity with goals complete & dreams achieved". But few ever attain it. Elegant lines, nice piece.

Lovely in so many ways, deep and the repetition of the first line works, that mind-lock, like that shock we feel when someone who we truly care for passes away. I think the repetition of "His" is line 6 and 7 are not necessary and by removing them, all the things he accomplished become the focus, as he would have wanted. So line 4, "His legacy for posterity: //goals complete,//dreams achieved,//his blessed soul sleeps. Also an empty line between lines 8 and 9 may truly work :)
