Mama Please Don'T Cry

MAMA PLEASE DON'T CRY She smiled through the waves of pain And held her mother's hand. "Oh, Mama please don't cry," she said. "And try to understand. God wants me up in heaven now. I hear him calling me. There's lots of angels singing out. It sounds so heavenly. "Oh Mama please don't cry," she said. "It's time for me to go. You've given me your love and joy. And Mom I love you so." She wipes away her mama's tears And looks into her eyes. Then drifts into the Lord's sweet hands As they say their goodbyes. Now Mama hears her little girl; "Oh, Mama please don't cry." So brave and strong her little one: The day they said goodbye.

Wow Robert! The very first poem of yours that I read, touched my soul! I lost my son 3 years ago to mental illness. He would have been 50. Your poem is the best I have read in a long time! Perfect rhyme and meter. My new favorite poet and poem. Blessings, Susan Maree

This hits home for me. Similar to mine, "Hush my baby to cry for mama". Heartfelt, I love it :)

A brave little girl... I can't imagine losing one of my children. It would hurt too much to bear. But knowing she's in heaven is a comfort. Very touching poem, Robert... so good to see you posting again!

WoW! Robert, you have most definitely penned a tear jerker. I found myself on the verge of tears when as I started to read this heart felt piece . As a mother I couldn't bare to think of this. But I know this happens all the time. You expressed that fact very well in this heartfelt write. A without a doubt seven:-) Alexis PS, Although I find this write to be bitter sweet it's good to see a post from you.
