Mallards of Riva Ridge
A Spring chill in the air and sunny sky beckons me
To walk the Riva Ridge. Heavy rains filled wetlands too
Which creates glorious views and home for a pair of
Mallards upon the return of Spring each year. Decayed and
Fallen trees enhance this wetland with a mystic flare.
Soon the Sun's warmth will bring out the peepers to
Fill the air with a chorus, taking me back to childhood
When frogging was the thing to do. Bullfrogs will be heard, and
Birds singing already, celebrating the joy of the Sun's warmth.
I resume my climb to the top of Riva Ridge, contemplating my
Return visit when the warmth embraces the
Mallards of Riva Ridge.
