Malignancy : the Civil War

Critically injured How deep the cut Surely time would heal A river of blood From the wounds Her sons lay dead in the fields Extremities mangled Conscience tormented From sores that festered and burst Bloated bodies Stench of death As bigoted hate was rehearsed Reluctant surrender Her fever broke The physical damage immense The worst had past Was the belief Final outcome remained in suspense Her body blemished By the scars A never ending reminder Emotional wounds Linger and loom Sadly she can't put behind her an original poem by the "poemdog" Daniel Turner

A courageous write, Daniel. Dealing w/a subject many would like not to broach again. You gave it the care and compassion necessary to examine the wounded body. I am deeply saddened by people who hold hate in their hearts. They will never heal. Appropriate title, stellar poem. Love always.

Freddie, I am one of those people who don't like sweeping dirt under a rug. It happened and we MUST learn from it. Thank you so much. You are indeed a kind and gentle soul.

Words cannot display adequate response to such horror, Daniel, well written...I have written similar on a Mothers dealing with wars aftermath of buried landmines in the fields her children play....there are powers to blame, and can never hide...jim

Unfortunately it appears this country will never recover from that war. You honor me reading my old poems. I appreciate your interest in my work. Thank you my friend and God Bless:)

Hi Daniel, the way i see it everyone loses in every war. This was an excellent write Daniel on a war that has always interested me, funny thing is i am not American. Your words express emotions extremities. The horror told in such an excellent form. This was written by a golden pen. A seven and a fave....Vladislav.

Thank you, Vladislav. Like the poem says, it still hasn't ended. Racial bigotry is alive and doing well in our country, I'm sad to say. But it is not only an American problem! Peace, my friend.
