I'll buy the drinks, that's all that I'm saying All evening long, don't think about paying This speed dating lark, it has me in bits You talk, I listen, you have me transfixed This wavelength, a tight rope, a line not to cross You take all my thoughts and kindly emboss I've met you before, perhaps just not yet Every word uttered new, despite known silhouette The wall not a mirror, there's nothing to see Blank space upon which I super impose me Sharp lines to view, but nothing given away Turn so I see you, though don't do it today Doppelganger maybe, am I inspired by that? I should leave, let me locate my usual hat An interesting evening, one I'll surely remember Closing time, fire's out, no there's a ember I'm intrigued, perhaps just by the mystery My path has crossed yours, some place in history I'd shake your hand, if only it was there But I'm stood here alone, talking to thin air "I was delighted to meet you", I shout to myself "I'll meet you again, soon? May be each twelfth?" Delirious now, confused by the surreal I just can't identify this feeling I feel It's a match and a contrast A spark and a flame It's something I liked But cannot explain Self discovery Such an unusual game

a bold piece of introspection; the game, the struggle, the desire, the disconnect mind and body - well composed

Thanks Mat, I thought I'd write about the painting but couldn't think of anything then woke up with half a poem so finished it off (arguably I should edit and polish). Thank you for the feedback, paintings are fun to explore
