Madness Left Us Long Ago
Madness left us long ago
Flowing from every pore
Dampened, furrowed every brow
Oozed pus from every sore
Madness left us long ago
Shrieking as she went
Her venom stinging every vein;
a deceptive, fragrant scent
Madness left us long ago
Did she feel regret or sorrow?
Did she care about how we might
face the world tomorrow?
Madness left us long ago
in search of other minds
We, in turn, were left to learn
Sanity's not always kind
