Mademoiselle Butterfly

There is a butterfly child without a voice Born of obscure roots, and gossamer fragility Fluttering wings swarming on her brow Her throat so full of songs Of words never written She is a tree in spring Trembling with the hope of leaves Of which the leaves are tongues Her nature gentle, soft as rain Fragrant blossom, nectar sweet Bathed in humbled innocence... Along he came…a collector of things His butterfly net, along with schemes Upon a budding branch with false intent And kisses spent, upon her dainty cheeks So into bliss she flew… and promises of love, yet with a sting, of false words never said, Knowing well, she was in his spell Unwritten words, with no intent to keep He said farewell, with lies and smiles Her frail wings pierced upon the day With love impaled upon her wings Her eyes would cry soliloquies Unwritten words upon her tongue While the winds of autumn tell her song…

this is another example of your great talent, I honestly don't think I've ever read a weak poem of yours; an original take on the 'madame butterfly' story (at least, that's how I read it) - congrats (I would've given it a 1st) :)
