Lying In Wait

I need to find a reason to smile again And find beauty in a flower For now I only sneer at them all And my stare makes many cower I want to discover my long lost zest for life And my love for adventure to see Today I find I’ve little but contempt And a trip is fraught with misery To walk with head held high and carrying a smile While whistling a tune is a memory held dear Now I dream of nightmarish ends Revenge and remorse seems so near I loved this world and I loved this life when I was young Until others soured it for me and now I’m too weak to fight So long I’ve struggled to hold my views Maybe it’s time to light up the night I need to find a reason to smile again Does a cobra smile when he strikes? Will I?
