Inspired by SKAT'S Butterfly contest.
what monster are you that hides the moon
what shade of darkness you consume
glimmering wings of gruesome beast
in search of your celestial feast
flying high in evening sky
I sit and quiver as you go by
shimmering jade from lunar shadow
candles burning opalescent glow
flickering light circling nearer
whispered flight becoming clearer
alight you not on my spread fingers
the pounding of my heart yet lingers
but see you now as what you are
you're not the beast that hides the stars
you rest upon my hand so gentle
lustrous green like yuletide tinsel
softly brushing against my skin
with breathy kisses my soul you win
scorned are you by royal kin
the weeping darkness hides your sin
with who you are unsatisfied
but your lonely secret I will hide
while I wait for you a tear I'll cry
as you flutter by my sweet butterfly
