Luminosity
This is
Just a glimpse
Of your
Luminosity.
Ocean eyes
Pixie nose
Cinnamon freckles
Giraffe neck
You stretch up, up
Until you can reach
The highest leaves
Of the tallest trees
Chewing with your
Perfect, dentist-approved teeth.
When you smile
Little dimples like
Craters on the moon
Pop up on your face
Pop, pop, pop
Trenches around
Your thin, pink lips
Bright against your
Ashen skin
Which burns so easily
In the sun’s golden rays
And peels like the bark of
A eucalyptus tree.
You were once
A scrawny boy
One I could over-power
With my height
But now we are equals
And soon you will
Pass me by
Until your head is
Surrounded by clouds
And you take gulps
Of mist like
Delicious cream puffs.
Your eyebrows are thick
Knitted in deep thought
Or arched in surprise
You look like grandfather
And just like him
When you are angry
You clear a path
Because you have
A roar as
Frightening as a lion’s
But when you are calm
You are regal like one too
When you walk
Out on the plane
Amongst the other lions
No one has to ask
Who you are
You are the king.
