     surround my bed
I never knew.
     I forgot to
           open my eyes.
Peaceful in repose
    softest fingers caress my
     Airlight wings cover me
in protective warmth against
     the chill of
winter’s open window
soothing nightmare’s
     I no longer
as my tears dampen white feathers.
