Lucky You
In your world of sunshine
Have you ever seen the rain,
From your ivory tower
Have you ever felt the pain.
As your driving in your cadillac
Did you see the rusted car,
Or the homeless on the street
Not caring who they are.
When you dress in your designer clothes,
And brush your pearl white teeth,
Do you know that there are children
Without shoes upon their feet.
And when the snow falls to the ground
It isn't any joke
That a frail, and sickly woman
Doesn't own a coat.
Could you ever imagine
Of living life this way,
On paper bags you make your bed
In the gutter where you lay.
You say it couldn't happen,
Especially to you
How fortunate my friend,
As I once believed it too.
