Love's Rhyme

The roof I see has fallen in … The window panes all broke But I know between its’ walls ‘t was Love inside we spoke Its’ paint is cracked and faded It’s foundation is askew But … doesn’t match my memory Of when our love was new Within its’ walls time stood still When I looked upon your face But …Time and fate took its’ toll And our fall away from grace. The house will never see repair And Time will not re-wind And so I must recall Former visions of my mind We both have since found others With whom to spend our time Now we but remember: Once we shared Love’s Rhyme

This is a great poem of the memories of a love once had. I do like the correlation between the house and the love that will never see repair. Very well written, The rhyme and meter are excellent, Jack. Your friend Robert.

Thank you, Robert. In Life things can become broken, sometimes repaired, but if not Life demands that we move forward with the chance for a healing date sometime in the future. Jack C

Thank you, Anne, for you kind words. I have a dear acquaintance who traced her ancestry back to the island of Loften in Norway, where her grt grandfather was born, He, in the 1800s built a historic bridge in my hometown. It is indeed, a small world. Jack C
