Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) comes from the Gaelic word for 'gathering' or 'party.'  Today, people think of a ceilidh as a fun-filled night of energetic dancing and good music.

“‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” —Lord, Alfred Tennyson love at first sight at the ceilidh dancing 'round peat fires gayly lad and lass equally smitten love's peat fire flame in Great Britain unprepared for love's twists and turns, ill-fated love crashes and burns dark and cold was the night she left leaving the lad crushed and bereft the lad laments the lass as lost methinks he should have count the cost of jumping into love too fast prudent forethought may help love last

Thanks for sharing this... Likewise, thanks so much for hosting the poetic marathon-pursuit. I have learned so much from such and is still delighting while savouring the poems that your contests have featured. God bless you.

Thanks Mark for the great marathon. I think I used 26 of the 30 poems I've written and was barely able to stay in the race. I was honored to be able to compete with pros like Andrea, Lin, Ashley, John and the rest of the bunch, truly a talented group through and through. Its time that you take a break and let us comment on your writing - I really enjoyed this one and can sense the dialect as I read it.

My pleasure, Mark. Thank you for your ongoing support of the marathon, and congratulations on your podium finish. I agree, the list of poets are truly a talented group. I also like your idea of me taking a break. It took me over two years after the first one to come back with the second marathon. Thank you for your comments on my poem. Best wishes to you and yours!

So interesting. Many things in the world like this I know nothing of. Thanks for the Marathon. It sure was stressful. Haha

Delightful! You stuck the landing quite nicely. As someone whose brain fries whenever I try to purposely rhyme, my hat's off to you.
