Love Used To Be....

Love used to be a word That I believed in, An emotion so strong. It used to be a feeling That I had felt For so long. Love was so carefree, Full of passion And my only desire. It gave me affection, Made me alive, Like I was on fire. It was always something For me to depend on, That's what I believed. But in one moment It was all gone, Nothing was as it seemed. It was just a fantasy, A Fairy Tale that vanished Into thin air. Learning now Nothing is forever And life is never fair. Yes, love was something I was very much in, That I gave all my soul to. But now my heart Is broken, feeling no love, That this word is no longer true. But at least I can say At one time it was And it felt great. To be in love, to feel loved, Even if only once, It was so magical to create. (5/1998)
