Love Struck Twice

I was wishing days to pass by quickly while mourning that the years had fled away trying to ignore a heart grown sickly on candied hopes of romance - foolish play! And the arms of time clawed ever forward gathering slack from a languid mind's dream till gut-sore tug drew me slowly toward consid'ring moves without romantic gleam. But fate - or God - or destiny - delight in strangest twists - for after quite a span I was hit twice by Cupid's subtle might - surely more gift than curse, though ne'er my plan. Only a fool would think love sprouts so soon but the fuel for fire's set beneath the moon. 14 September 2022
