Love Lost
My heart lay broken, no more to soar on gossamer wings,
The song that once proclaimed its joy, stilled and withered.
And in that silence the darkness once more grows,
Relentless as the sea reconquering the shore.
Drowning hope, plunging the ecstasy of love into icy depths.
Alone in the solitude of the dark, bereft of sensation, time slows, I drift,
Loss and anguish engulf my consciousness clawing at reason.
Fear rises like a bubble through the morass of my mind,
Ushering in despair at the desolation of my soul my mind my existence.
The darkness has waxed in power and I am lost to its cold embrace.
