Love Lesson Learned
After all that has transpired,
my love for you has expired.
You played with my heart like a toy.
You brought me more sorrow than joy.
I never looked back, once I walked out the door.
I now see that I am worth so much more.
Thank you for this lesson learned;
my love and respect should be earned,
not given freely to just any man;
next time, his heart and mind I will scan;
reassuring my heart, he has good intentions,
not just looking for one night of indiscretions.
He will have a kind heart like mine,
his eyes will sparkle and his smile shine,
each time he sees my face.
I’ll know then, my heart is in a safe place.
Life is too short to cry about love lost.
Had it been real love, it wouldn’t have been tossed,
like yesterday’s trash…just thrown out.
You didn’t deserve my love, there’s no doubt.
I thank you for letting love die
and for telling me good bye.
If you hadn’t done that to me,
I wouldn’t have been able to see
the real man for me, sent from God above;
to cherish, respect, and give me all his love.
A gentleman who can appreciate all I give,
sharing a love that we’ll never outlive.
If I hadn’t found a love like yours, so fake;
being in a relationship that was a mistake,
I would have settled for far less than I’m worth.
One day soon, I’ll find the greatest love on earth
with a man who’ll treat me like his queen
and marvel that I’m the most beautiful woman he’s seen.
My future will be so prosperous and bright
I thank God in my prayers every night.
I know He is preparing be for the best
and my prayers will soon manifest.
