Love Is Really a Monster

Just to make things clear, we never loved each other. You hit me, like a fist, colliding into my veins and picking up the pace when you felt my heartbeat quicken. It was so that you could always outrun me, catch up and convince me otherwise. Coercion was always easier than connecting. I've tried to keep you at a distance, but every now and then, you throw me a bone, or two, so, I've built my own monster of necessity, a skeleton that only resembles you.
