Lost in Thought

I've had my moments Scattered over decades Imperceptible as special Until never repeated I forego new moments To be lost in old ones To find an old version of self or time See it shine in a way that wasn't true Focus removes the tainted periphery "Ahh a piece of string, I remember it This string is special to me" ~ Finding meaning is special to me ~ For I've not always been this way Times haven't always been hard My mind offers up my Nanna's 'Blackpool shoes' Bought because her feet hurt & they saved the day I remember her finding them again Sharing the moment I'm there, with a pair of sandals & a truly happy face

So many memories of minor incidentals pop up at various times. I feel those moments are "down times'. I liked this poem you graciously shared.

I forego new moments to be lost in old ones, we really do have an inbuilt Time Machine in our minds Dilly, amazing how we latch onto a string of thought, and follow it back to its source, a nostalgically sad poem in many ways, but beautifully expressed nonetheless, love the happy face ending:) cheers David

Thanks David, you're very kind spending time with my poem. I quite enjoy seeing what my brain will summon up with ideas like this. I loved looking through treasures at my grandparents and the best are just stories that light up faces really. There must be a million better ones that Blackpool shoes but she was just so thrilled with these rather ordinary sandals (with a squishy sole) that I can't help but love the moment 'Blackpool shoes' - as if they held magic :)
