Loss of Heart
Living life with intention sounds positive.
What if your intention is to give up because
living that life had completely lost all appeal?
Doesn't sound so positive now, does it?
Sleeping becomes a distant memory as
one day shakily blurs into the next,
not feeling comfortable in your skin.
The idea of food is repulsive at best
so the attempts are few and far between.
It feels like a total resignation to dying
a slow death without actual forethought.
It is neither cowardice nor an act of
courage but that of extreme sadness.
The loss of someone you love makes losing
a piece of your heart feel physically literal.
It is not only mental as so many believe.
Nobody can tell you how you should feel.
No one has the right to say you should be
over it by now because months have passed.
There is no time limit on grief or heartache.
Rose Kennedy's quote conveys a major truth.
"It is said that 'time heals all wounds.' I do
not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind,
protecting it's sanity, covers them with scar
tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone."
Everyone recovers in their own time, waiting for
that protective mechanism to click into place.
That piece of your heart will always be missing
but the strength of your soul will help you survive.
