Looking For Sleep

Looking For Sleep God, just let me sleep I have counted a million sheep Stared at the ceiling Listened to the crickets chirping Even went and got warm milk Still sleep avoids me My mind will not shut down for the night What will Sharion do with Michael How will the people go on What word rhymes with pompous So many stories running through my mind Poems that need to be written But, not at that moment Not when my eyes should be closed It is so bad I started taking notes on toilet paper My little pad ran out hours ago Another night gone One sunbeam hitting me from the dawn I just want to forget the world and sleep Maybe I will just delete my book Stop writing poems and stop thinking Then my eyes will close and I will fall to sleep At least until my baby starts crying

Compass rhymes with pompous. Sleep deprivation is mostly mental but I feel your pain. LOL I like your poem
