Lookin For You
I been looking for you
In all the wrong places
Instead of the pew
I was in the crowd
Instead of in the bible
I was reading my work out loud
I should have been at revival
But I was looking in my bank account for survival
I was supposed to be baptized
But I got high
I was looking at the choir
The only voice from my lips were those of a liar
I been looking for you
In all the wrong places
Drivin my supped up coupe
When I should have been praising you
Sippin on all that tonic (so I could feel hypnotic)
When spending time with you would have done it
I was hangin’ deep wit my peeps in the street
I wish I was home on my knees askin “..the Lord my soul to keep”
I was lookin for a remedy
When all it takes is for me to ask
I though I was on easy street
But that was just a sour enemy makin Shiit look sweet
I been looking for you
In all the wrong places
I sat still
And you came to find me
You sent all your angels
To apprehend me
I could hear you
Rather your words fell on deaf ears
I couldn’t see you
But I knew you were always there
Now that I found you after so long
I’ll never let you go no matter the storm.
