Long Live the Kid Inside

My inner child… can still be seen hands in his pockets eyes furtively dodging inspection shirt tail out remnants of breakfast in his moustache(?). His smile….hehehe still mischievous inquiring eyes asking unanswerable questions (like why is water wet?) He rambles, wanders, meanders through the fields of my mind tempting me…. “go ahead” “jump in that puddle” “touch that paint’ (even though the sign reads – WET) He still can’t sit still and drags me along(often willingly) into questionable endeavors usually beginning with the question “I wonder what happens when……” Fortunately….. I usually recover in a few days. LONG LIVE THE KID INSIDE!!! 9/11/2021 My Inner Child Poetry Contest

This is what I needed to read today! Being a grown-up is not always fun; I need to remember my inner child. Thanks!

Alas, Andrea, the kid did not win again....but just because you're not the fastest doesn't mean you stop running......

Just look in the mirror....tickle your chin and whisper "cootchy-cootchy coo" and she'll smile at you......

wish I could have written as poetically as you did when i wrote my "kid inside" poem!! This is fantastic and reminds me of myself because people often tell me I have food on my shirt or face when I am eating. good grief!!

Love the image of what it's like to be a kid again....'no holes barred'. Age can never take the 'inner child' out of us, unless we let it. Great write! Paulette

So true Paulette, he/she is always looking around....for a puddle to jump in.....

Outstanding, John. It brought back so many latent memories of childhood, when I simply had to try it...whatever it was. I think that today I am still dragged along by the boy who resides inside of me.

Milt, when asked to "watch" the children...that's what I do....I watch them... even encourage them... to explore...and yeah, I get in trouble just like they do....
