Lonesome Dove
He was always like that Peanuts
character named Pigpen,
with dust, bad odors and piles
of dirt always following him,
and bathing once a year
was certainly not enough,
and if by chance you had
to stand by him all you'd
do is gag and cough,
the townsfolk disappearing
whenever he showed up,
finally nicknaming him
poor Lonesome Dove,
you could say poor Lonesome
was so lonesome he lived
his life like a cowboy monk,
not fully realizing he
smelled as bad as a skunk,
one day as he was getting
baptized in the Brazos river,
the Preacher said Lonesome
you are now a new person
and have a new heart,
but may I suggest that you
take this here bar of soap
and wash all your bodily parts,
so Lonesome did just that
and worked up a good lather,
and ever since he now bathes
daily and even takes a shower.
