Loneliness
Though I walk through the crowd
of humanity
I am alone
Though I stand in the midst
of the multitude
I am stalked by solitude
Though I see you and hear you
and lay by your side
I feel not your presence
for I am without you
And lonely desires swarm me
I once thought I would find refuse
in your shelter
But in the eye of my mind
I see you in the arms of destiny
You knew me once
and I was happy
Now my heart hears only the echoes
of your silence
As I attempt to flee this loneliness
that pursues me
