Coping with loss

there’s a silence somewhere that listens and hears that feels all our pain through the gift of our tears that helps us to see in that dark which we hide by shining a light - lit by love - deep inside.

Although this poem speaks of pain and sadness, yet it ends with words of hope for the future. My attention is also drawn to the perfect rhymes and smooth flowing delivery. ~ Regards // paul

Thank you Paul. I originally planned a poem based on The Lady Chapel at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral Ann and I were visiting last year. The idea though felt a little flat; it was to be a straightforward description of that small but beautiful chapel in the cathedral's basement. Rather than stick with that, I started thinking about the atmosphere of the place and how I could put that into words instead - hence this poem. :) Cheers - Gary

Another win I see Sir Congratulations I have always loved your work since I first read one of your pieces. 2 in a row I hope you get a Trii-factor like the American Gothic Trident Subject flow choice and no overuse of insignificant words and always has relevance and meaning. Congrats again Gary well done

Dear Gary, whenever we love there is the danger of inevitable loss. When we experience it, a light - lit by love - soothes the darkness within. A potent and poignant piece, my friend. Congratulations for your win in Brian's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Congratulations on your win Gary. Whenever I see one of your poems listed I know I am in for a poetic feast! I love the first line. There is so much said in your simple lines - like Sandburg's fog on little cat feet - such a feeling of compassion and comfort. Sending you blessings of the Easter season. Hope you are well and staying inspired.

Thanks Sam for your lovely words. I always try and keep the poems as simple as I can but the simpler and shorter they are, the harder I find they are to write. Go figure! :) I've actually just posted a blog about having difficulty finding my muse at the moment so am taking a time-out from writing at PS. Hopefully it wont be for long. I've much catching up to do with the reading of others' poems - yours included of course. Cheers - Gary

Beautiful Gary . I love the flow and emotion in your words. I love “ there’s a silence somewhere that listens and hears “. I agree . Silence is magical .. so full of power and has the ability to give gifts if we take the time to be still and listen . Susan :)
