Listless On a Rainy Day

Listless on a rainy day, I had meant to work in the yard; The best laid plans, well okay; Now what to do I'm thinking hard. Well, write a poem, I mean why not! Like every other bloody day; So listless here I give it a shot But really I have little to say. So watch the rain as I will Where outside my window is a pail And sitting here to see it fill, It feels to me a bit like jail. Until I see it's now half full, That pail of mine where I dwell; Yet, in this rain on a day so dull, I think half empty I must tell.
