Listen To Mother Earth
Listen to Mother Earth
when it sadly speaks;
its cry you must heed...
feel despair in her chant.
A net full of salmons rewarded me
for my hard labor as delight made me free:
to let my spirit roam through the prairie,
and despite the sweat dripping...I was happy.
Today, I look into the murky waters
and they are full of dead fishes that attract the wildcat,
as the riverbed becomes drier by the hours;
why is the flow slow...hasn't the snow melted yet?
Pristine and healthy this river once was;
now, stop and listen to Mother Earth.
