Lirazel's Ear

Her hair
windy willows
flowing feverishly
a shuddering child at her feet
loves dreams

Lirazel is the name of character from the book. The King of Elfland's Daughter but the poem is based on a scene, in Erlkönig is a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The ErlKing Wilt go, then, dear infant, wilt go with me there? My daughters shall tend thee with sisterly care; My daughters by night their glad festival keep, They'll dance thee, and rock thee, and sing thee to sleep." "My father, my father, and don't you see there The Elf-king's daughters in the gloomy place?" "My son, my son, I see it clearly: There shimmer the old willows so grey."

You leave me with a negative image of modern motherhood, my hope for the child is pleasant dreams. Well done, congratulations.

Thanks James and congratulations to you also. I hope I got the double entendre across, using feverishly as a turning word, that he might be dreaming or maybe nought.
